Just call me streaker

So, last night I finished Chapter 6 in a flurry. 700+ words in 1.5 hours. I’m not mentioning this to brag, just to give things perspective. I had all of Saturday to write and only did a little over 200 words. What’s up with that?!?!

I’ll admit I’ve had other things on my mind the last couple of weeks. Namely, this new business venture. It’s been hard to concentrate on anything else. We had our first staff meeting Saturday night. Timelines were set and an estimate of needed funds for start-up was established. Perhaps having those things solidified enabled me to return my focus to Maiden. And with the deadline for the first draft only 3.5 months away, I really need to.

However, I’ve found that the tighter the schedule, the more productive I am. Give me a day and I’ll putter around, easily distracted. Give me two hours and I’ll slam out a thousand words. Do I subconsciously procrastinate because I know I get things done when under pressure? I’m sure the stress levels can’t be good for me. You should see all the gray hairs. They call me “Old Man” at work. Tell me I’m not alone in this practice. It’d make me feel better.
