I’m going to be on television

Our company filmed its first-ever TV commercial today and I am in it. I don’t have a speaking part–we hired a professional voice actress for that–but I do get to pretend I’m monitoring the network and taking customer calls while sitting behind our Star Trek-like NOC (Network Operations Center) desks.

“I’m not a Client Services Technician, but I play one on TV.”

I’m not the only one in the commercial, either. There were five of us. One shot does open with me, however, and I think it’s the one they’ll be using to start the commercial. I was going to get a closeup as well, but the director decided to go with my supervisor because they had already “established her identity” in another shot. The commercial will air this summer on the local CBS affiliate during the newshour.

This isn’t my first time on TV. I spent a week on Romper Room (for those who don’t remember the show, think Barney, but with a giant bumblebee) in kindergarten. I also was a “model” in some photo shoots used in a sales brochure for a hotel I used to work for. I think one of them is also used on their website. That’s me standing on the right in the middle picture.

Perhaps I need to get a manager.
