Remembering the little people

As I’m finishing up my short story for Realms of the Dragons 2, I’ve gone back several times and reread different scenes. One scene in particular, an ambush of a gnome caravan, struck me this morning as needing revision.

When reading over this scene again, I realized I had not taken into consideration the size differences between the attacking humans and the gnomes. The way I described the final killing stroke, while not physically impossible, would have been extremely awkward for the attacker.

I originally envisioned the sequence a bit different, but had discarded that because of how it portrayed the villian. (He kills the gnome instead of having one of his underlings do it.) I suppose I will go back to that version, as it works better with the size differences.
