One down, one to go

I finished my short story for Realms of the Dragons 2 on Saturday. It was a long day of writing; about 2000 words in 12 hours. I just kept hitting little blocks, which was really frustrating when the end was in sight. Ironically, I used one such frustration as inspiration for getting past a leap in logic the protagonist makes that I was having a hard time describing.

I was so happy to be finished, I almost forgot to give it a title before I emailed it off. I’m calling it “How Burlmarr Saved the Unseen Protector”. Final word count came in at 7319. I got confirmation from Phil this morning that he received it. I’m anxious to hear any comments back, of course, but I’ve already got one or two minor changes I’d like to make. I’m very happy overall with how the story turned out. It was one of those pieces that got stronger as it went.

Now it’s back to Maiden. Tonight, I’m going to read through what I’ve written so far then start where I left off tomorrow.
