I had the weirdest dream last night. I received a package from Wizards. When I opened it, I found a small, hardbound, red journal over an inch thick. Included with the journal is a letter from Phil explaining this is the critique of my short story, done by one of their freelance editors. My instructions were to read through it, sign the back of the journal and return it to WotC. Upon opening the book, I find every page is filled with nearly illegible, handwritten notes. Every page! There were more notes than there was story.
I’m pretty sure this is my subconscious dealing with some of the stress and fears I’m having about the novel. I don’t know if this is just first-time author jitters, so I sent off an email to Phil asking for his advice. It gives me a reason to ask him about the short story as well.
