I thought today would be my 100th post, but according to Blogger, yesterday was. Oh, well. I’ve been thinking about the future of the website recently, and how I wanted to use it. Originally, Pens & Swords was meant to be an extension of the MoP diary I had started on Forward Motion, a way to share the experiences of writing my first manuscript and getting published. With only a little more than 30 days left until the first draft is due, I started to wonder if there was a life for Pens & Swords after Maiden of Pain.

Having a website is a great way for authors to increase their exposure, and I’ve been looking at other author websites for inspiration. For now, things will stay the same, but I’ll probably be making some dramatic changes to the look and content during the holidays. Pens & Swords will still have a place, but it may not be as the front page. I imagine there will be lots of things to share thoughts about as I go to book signings and conventions to meet fans, not to mention finding an agent to get my own manuscripts published. Pens & Swords will continue to be where I share those experiences.

I’m going on vacation next week, so there won’t be any new posts until Tuesday, September 7th. I won’t technically be going anywhere, though. I promised my wife I’d paint the exterior of the house at the start of the week, but I’ll be spending the rest of the time writing. It’ll also be my 31st birthday on Monday, followed by my son’s first birthday on the 2nd. That date will also mark 30 days until the first draft of Maiden is due.
