Discovering my pace

Kaiscomet started a thread over on the Wizards of the Coast Once Upon a Time forum that really struck a cord with me. I mentioned last month that I was considering a submission for WotC’s “new imprint” open call, and quitting to write full time as a byproduct. After some sound advice from Paul Kemp, among other things, I decided not to pursue either.
The decision has restored some peace to my life, and I’ve been much more productive in my writing the last couple weeks. Part of the change has to do with something Kais brought up: pace. I know what I am capable of doing in a year as a result of working on Maiden. Attempting to do more in less time would not only do horrible things to my health and personal life, but it would result in an endproduct I would likely not be proud of.
Someday, perhaps, I will be able to churn out a quality book in three to four months. That is something that is not possible now, and I’m fine with that.
