Maiden: no padding required

Phil got back to me today with good news, which I desperately needed seeing as I’m in the throes of a nasty flu bug. Maiden is off to the copy editor. He felt I did everything he asked for, and padding the book with another 9000 words just to make the count would only make the book longer, not better. An excerpt from an upcoming novel will likely be added as filler.
I took the opportunity to grill him on what happens next with Maiden (will I get to suggest a cover?) and my relationship with WotC. I’ll share that with you later when I hear back from him.
