Preaching is writing

I’m going to be doing a lot of writing this month, but hardly any of it will be fiction. I’ve been asked to preach for a congregation down in Albany, Oregon on a couple Sundays this month. That means putting together a total of 6 lessons: two of them in a classroom format that will allow for questions and answers, and 4 that will be your standard lectures.

This will not be my first time preaching or teaching a public bible class. However, it will be the first time I’ve had this type of workload. Normally, I fill in for a sermon or two on Sunday when a congregation’s regular preacher is on vacation or ill.

I’ve decided to do a series on worship. I have a small library of lessons I’ve used in the past, but none on this subject. It’s a good one to have in your repertoire.

I hope to spend the last ten days of the month finishing up “Scroll,” but seeing as I’m only halfway done, I don’t think it will happen.
