If you haven’t already bought or read Maiden of Pain, you can now “Search Inside” the book on Amazon.com. The excerpt is the opening scene of Chapter One. I’m also taking a cue from Paul Kemp and signing up as an Amazon Affiliate this weekend. Once that happens, when you order one of my books through the Library links, I’ll receive a small percentage of the sale from Amazon.

Hey cool! Not sure on the quality of the scan, but it’s an awesome idea.
I also read those reviews. A couple positive, a couple negative. Some were well thought out, and some were not.
A little irked, I contemplated writing a review of my own, but I didn’t think that would be helpful to the cause (fellow Realms writer and all that). Then I thought about a pseudonym. . . but nah.
Fear not, Kam! I enjoyed Maiden heartily (finished it in 2-3 days — that should tell you something).
Don’t let negative reviews get you down!
RotD2 caught some flak as well, but I chaulk that up to the same cause as I do a couple of your reviews — applicants for MoP who’re fuming a bit. I understand where they’re coming from, but I don’t think lambasting their fellow authors is a mature response.
Cheers,
db

Yeah, RotD2 fared well as far as reviews are concerned. Two 4 stars are great! And don’t worry about writing a review for Maiden. You’re right, being a fellow author would probably make it suspect. I’ve got pretty thick skin, and seeing the sales figures on my last royalty statement went a long way toward padding the armor.

Glad you’re in good spirits!
The way I see it is, all we can do is glean the good and the helpful from the reviews and go from there, whether those be compliments on things that worked or criticisms that point out areas of growth.
Cheers
