Renewed vigor

And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, ans so much more as you see the day approaching.” - Hebrews 10:24-25

There’s something to be said about maintaining an association with those “of like precious faith” as the apostle Peter put it, whether that association is spiritual, professional or social. Establishing such bonds provides a conduit of energy and encouragement in whatever the shared endeavor is.

Writing has been the last thing on my list in recent months. There are a lot of things on my plate, but to be honest, I just wasn’t interested. Going to GenCon and spending time with colleagues/friends changed that. Yesterday, I wrote up an outline for a story I plan to submit to Fantasist Enterprises’s upcoming Sails and Sorcery anthology. I even got in the first couple hundred words. Elaine Cunningham mentioned the publisher a few months ago, but it wasn’t until GenCon–where I met the publisher–that I seriously considered submitting.

I guess the moral of the story is that even though writing, for the most part, is a lonely profession, it is important to still have connections with those in the industry to give you the support and encouragement needed to get over those slumps and get back in the game.

Good for you, Kam. I’m glad to hear your back at the keyboard.

I’m toying with a pirate story for the anthology too. Not sure yet. It would take place in the same world as my current WIP, dealing with a sea adventure that (until now) happens off stage. Still turning the idea around…

Good luck to you! Sounds like a lot of people in this blog circle are thinking about doing this. It’s be cool to have a bunch of the “gang” in the same book ala Realm of Dragons. :)
