Online readings

I’ve only been to one author reading. I think I listened to one book on tape/CD. I didn’t do a reading for Maiden. Reactions and opinions seem to be mixed on the benefit of readings. One of the events I did for speech and debate in college was interpretative reading (think acting without using body language). And I think there is something about hearing the author’s interpretation of the story, the emphasis the creator puts on words and phrases, that reveals meanings you can’t get from reading it through your own worldview.

Erik had a link to the prologue for the latest Wizards book, Darkvision by Bruce R. Cordell. However, instead of being a PDF, the prologue is presented as an audio file of the author reading the text. I think this is great and I really enjoyed listening to Bruce read. Take a listen and tell me what you think.
