Shadowline seeking super-heroine

J.L. Collins kindly posted a contest announcement from Shadowline. Seems they’re looking for a writer to pair with artist Franchesco! (yes, the exclamation point is part of the name) to produce a three-issue mini-series featuring a super-heroine. Writer and artist will share trademark and copyright, and split back-end profits.
They’re taking one-paragraph synopses of the series until January 31, 2008. I don’t have any ideas, as all my lead heroes are male (I do have a team with a female hero). I’m also focusing on the short story I want to submit to Dragon, so while the opportunity is intriguing, I don’t have the resources to make an attempt. Good luck, J.L.!

Double-check on Dragon’s submissions guidelines before you put too much work into your short story. The recently-posted guidelines have been pulled down … and from what I can tell, they *aren’t* accepting fiction at the current moment.
I still haven’t read any official announcement that says “never mind” … but that seems to be what’s happened.

I’ll echo Mike’s concerns regarding the inconsistencies and poor submission guidelines we’ve seen posted by Dragon so far, but I wish you the best for your story.

Hmm, thanks for the heads up. I did find a submission page for Dragon and Dungeon, but it only mentions articles and adventure. This certainly raises some concerns about them as viable markets.
