The aristocracy of America

This was the front page headline of a national newspaper yesterday. I’m not sure who I’m more disappointed in: the media, congress, or the general public for not making the former two institutions more accountable.

It’s no surprise that the U.S. Congress has the lowest approval rating in history, even lower than the current president, when they are spending so many resources on policing an entertainment organization’s internal scandals. It’s not even an economic issue.

I am more and more convinced that there is no longer two separate political parties who seek to represent the People (i.e., a republic), but an aristocracy that feuds with itself over who gets the right to impose their will upon us. I have no desire to endorse a presidential candidate who rises from the current federal establishment, and I am leery of state leaders with strong ties to or roots in the national parties.

It’s the way of the government now - stick their noses into everyone’s business. It’s getting more and more “big brother”-ish all the time.

Now if the steroids in question had been *illegal* at the time, then I could see a federal investigation into it, but most of the steriods in question were not illegal (and not even banned by MLB at that point). It seems they are trying to “grandfather” in the illegality of the steroids and attempt to punish/prosecute people for using them now that they *are* illegal.

    It’s just silly.

Sounds like a good basis for a novel.
