EWA preview: more on units

I revealed the primary attributes of the EWA units on Wednesday. Today, I’m going to talk about their secondary attributes.

Now that I have the spreadsheet in front of me, I see that I forgot a couple primary attributes: Area and Fatigue. Area is the area of effect a unit’s attack has. Fatigue is the number of rounds a unit must “rest” after attacking before it can be activated again.

The secondary attributes include race, level, cost and size. EWA units are either Medium or Large. Medium units occupy a single square, while Large units occupy four squares (2×2) and count as two units. A unit’s level governs its attribute bonuses and cost. Players cannot command units whose level is greater than the player’s Warlord level.

A unit’s cost is the amount of gold a player must spend to hire the unit from the Guild. It is also the point cost of using the unit on your team.

Finally, each unit has a race. Every race has a racial enemy. A unit will not join a team that has a unit from its racial enemy. EWA will release with four races: Dwarf, Elf, Human and Orc. Elves and Orcs are racial enemies.

Every race has a racial enemy. Elves and Orcs are racial enemies. That leaves us with Humans and Dwarves…

Does that mean Humans and Dwarves are racial enemies, then? :(

Nope. The racial enemies of Humans and Dwarves will be introduced with later expansions. :)
