I blame the Nyquil

In between hacking up a lung and blowing my brains out my nostrils, I managed to revise “Relvan’s Rescue” yesterday. I added 150 words or so meant to emphasize Janner’s struggle with his feelings about a past love and provide a little more urgency to his actions. I then mailed it off to Realms of Fantasy.

Without an S.A.S.E. enclosed!!!!

Mortified, I quickly wrote up a short letter apologizing for my faux pas and effusing my embarrassment, and stuffed it in an envelope along with a folded-up S.A.S.E.. I sent the manuscript via Priority Mail, so it’s likely to show up before the letter. I’m hoping it sits in the slush pile long enough for the letter to arrive. My email was included on the cover letter, but the submission guidelines said nothing about it being a viable communication method. And, of course, they do not provide an email address for contacting them. It will be just my luck that Relvan ends up in the round file because my cold-addled brain couldn’t keep all the details straight.

I know how you feel. I nearly did a similar thing for an Eberron submission with my synopsis. Luckily I realized my mistake prior to sending it. I can only imagine that part! Hope it gets a fair shake, despite the troubles.

By the way, I hope I’m not the only one that had to look up what an SASE was. Maybe I’m just really tired. :(
